Leadership sucks sometimes, y’all. If you have a team, you already know this. It is immensely rewarding in many aspects, and horribly infuriating in others.
Direct sales leaders have a totally weird position of having influence, with absolutely no authority. We can’t make someone sell, sponsor, complete training, or otherwise “show up.” And we can’t fire them or remove them from our teams either. We can’t help those who don’t want to be helped.
So what can we do? Attraction marketing is all about using your resources to draw people to you. This applies to leadership as well. Information, ideas, personality, value… all things a leader has at his or her disposal.
Here we are at month-end once again. Ineffective leaders are those who only contact their team on the second to last day of the month, to see if they’re going to order – because it benefits that leader. Effective leaders are creating value all month long by creating team culture, personality, tips, training value, and bringing their best to the team. They are visible all month long.
With one week left to go this month, if you are a leader and are dependent on your team’s volume, consider creating a Flash Challenge. Every day for the next 7 days, offer them ideas to reach their own volume, sales, sponsoring goals – for THEIR business benefit, not yours. Leaders who lead with value first, will build the loyalty of their teams to follow.
